More Effective Medline Searches

PubMed is the US National Library of Medicine's free online search service that provides access to over 11 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases.
Other useful PubMed services such as the Journal Browser, MeSH Browser, and Citation Matcher were also discussed. |
A demonstration was given of techniques for quickly and effectively retrieving relative information, such as the use of search limits, boolean operators, and combined searches.

医学およびその関連分野の文献検索データベースには様々なものがありますが、恐らく最も代表的でかつ広く活用されているのはPubMedではないでしょうか。その人気の理由として、情報量と質双方の充実、誰でも気軽に利用できる点、FREE（登録不用・無料）である点が挙げられます。病院、図書館、自宅でと、インターネットに接続さえしていればどこからでも無料で検索できることが最大のメリットといえましょう。
PubMedの概要
PubMedはNational Institutes of Health（NIH、米国立衛生研究所）内のNational Library of Medicine（NLM、米国立医学図書館）におけるNational Center for Biotechnology Information（NCBI、米国立生物工学情報センター）が提供するMEDLINEなどの生物医学文献データベースの検索システムです。現在は試験的に無料で提供されていますが、いずれは有料化するであろうといわれています。
