In this presentation Takako Kojima briefly described the main points of the first edition (1978) of the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, a document created by what is known today as the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) providing authors with a standardized format in preparing manuscripts for submission. She described the main changes in the intervening editions, and the main changes between the first and most recent 2007 edition, covering 30 years of changes in mainline approaches to medical publishing and how this reflects the changes in thinking in medical publications. |
