• English for Medical Purposes
  EMP-TMU is a free and open educational resource for anyone with an interest in English for Medical Purposes. This site has been developed by the International Medical Communications Center at Tokyo Medical University with support from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This interactive course, covering 18 modules of clinical therapeutics, is divided into 2 main sections:
  1. Reading materials based on the EMP undergraduate course for students in the 3rd and 4th year of their medical course. This includes clinical concepts, created in collaboration with our clinical specialists, articles, all with kind permission, from top-level medical journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, medical terminology and written exercises. Covering a wide range of therapeutic areas, this section helps users to develop their critical reading and analytical skills.
  2. Video materials of genuine doctor-patient consultations in English. Each video case is supported by a full English transcript and includes interactive questions for self-study purposes. These real-life consultations are essential study material for those seeking to improve their medical communication skills.

• Ronbun.jp
  Ronbun.jp is a website developed by Prof. Barron of Tokyo Medical University that provides valuable information for authors wishing to submit research papers to international biomedical journals.
• Japan Association for Health Care Interpreting in Japanese and English
  The Japan Association for Health Care Interpreting in Japanese and English (J.E.) was established to provide various materials in the field of health care interpreting. The objectives of J.E. include the following:
  - Research health care interpreting systems and training courses in other countries with the intention of improving services in Japan
  - Provide various materials to help support the field of health care interpreting in Japanese and in English
  - Develop models to improve and set standards for health care interpreting
  - Improve and provide training opportunities for interpreters in health care settings
  - Provide awareness in training programs for health care providers
  - Provide leadership in the management of effective health care interpreting services
  - Maintain a center for cultural health care interpreting to make educational materials available
  J.E. is currently researching well-developed training courses in other countries, and is offering a variety of information regarding training tools and programs for interpreters in Japan on the J.E. website.

• American Medical Writers Association
  AMWA strives to help biomedical communicators in their professional activities by offering continuing education seminars, workshops, publications, and networking opportunities.
• European Medical Writers Association
  EMWA is an organization for medical writers and associated professionals. It provides educational services for its members and aims to increase awareness of medical writing throughout Europe. EMWA is affiliated to the American Medical Writers Association.
• World Association of Medical Editors
  WAME is a voluntary association of editors from many countries who seek to foster international cooperation among editors of peer-reviewed medical journals.
• European Association of Science Editors
  EASE is a professional organization for editors and others working in publishing in the sciences.
• Council of Science Editors

• Taiyaku-kun: Computer Software Designed for Bilingual Medical Professionals
  Taiyaku-kun is a software program developed by MCL, a medical translation company, and designed to help medical professionals who need to read, comprehend, and translate highly technical medical terminology on a daily basis. Many useful tips are also included for bilingual medical professionals.
• Cross Cultural Health Care Program
  The CCHCP addresses broad cultural issues that impact the health of individuals and families in ethnic minority communities in Seattle and the US by training health care professionals in issues of cultural competency and providing training programs for health care interpreters. In addition the CCHCP is a research center on these issues.
• The Essential Bronchoscopist
  A web based learning module created by Dr. Henri Colt to explain bronchoscopy. The Japanese translation was done at Tokyo Medical University. Although it is intended to be a learning module for bronchoscopists, the fact that it is available in English, Japanese and other languages makes it also a valuable resource for medical translators.
